The Indiana Jones franchise, consisting of five action-adventure films, was created by George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. The franchise follows the adventures of Indiana Jones, a professor of archaeology and adventurer, as he travels the world in search of rare artifacts and uncovering ancient mysteries.

The first film in the franchise, Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), sees Indiana Jones searching for the Ark of the Covenant before it falls into the hands of the Nazis. Along the way, he battles his way through booby traps and battles with rival archaeologist René Belloq. The film was a huge success and established the iconic character of Indiana Jones as well as the formula for the rest of the franchise.

The second film, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), takes place in 1935 and sees Indiana Jones traveling to India in search of a mystical stone. The film is darker in tone than the first film, with a more ominous atmosphere and some horror elements. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the film was a commercial success and is still regarded by many as an important entry in the franchise.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) sees Indiana Jones searching for his missing father and the Holy Grail. Along the way, he faces off against Nazis, who are also searching for the Grail, and teams up with his father and fellow adventurer, Dr. Henry Jones Sr. The film was well received by both critics and audiences and is considered by many to be one of the best entries in the franchise.

After a 19-year hiatus, the franchise was rebooted with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008). Set in the 1950s, the film sees Indiana Jones searching for a mysterious artifact in the jungles of South America. While the film received mixed reviews, it was a commercial success and introduced the character of Mutt Williams, who many fans hope will continue the legacy of Indiana Jones in future films.
